Poetry for Children
Poetry Break #30

Our own original poems

Close your eyes
And rest your head.
Now it's time
To go to bed.
When you wake
We'll play and play.
Tomorrow is
Another day.
Tomorrow is
Another day.

Introduction
Here's a simple poem I made up for my children when they were very young as part of our bedtime ritual. (I would often put music to it and sing it to them.)

Extension
Think about the moments in your life you've captured with special words, phrases, or songs. Put them into writing and share them with people you care about.
